RAISE Conference 2026 - Call for Papers Open

The RAISE Committee and Northumbria University are delighted to open the Call for Papers for the RAISE Annual Conference 2026, taking place online and in Newcastle from 9-10 September 2026, with both In Person and Hybrid delegate and presentation options.

 

About RAISE 2026 at Northumbria

This two-day hybrid conference will focus on the theme of ‘Authentic Student Engagement in Contemporary Higher Education’, where we our conference draws in 200+ delegates and 80+ presentations. Taking place at Northumbria University’s City Campus in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, RAISE’s flagship event grows year on year, bringing together students, professional services and academics from across the world to share best practice, research findings and network with peers.

 

The deadline for submissions is 16th February 2026. To submit to present your work at the conference, please find the submission for HERE.

 

Our conference sub-themes are below:

  • Responding to GenAI (including playful and purposeful learning)

  • Embedding Employability into Assessment and the Curriculum

  • Ensuring Education remains People Focused: Balancing Attendance with Inclusivity

  • Partnering with Students as Co-Creators of a Future Higher Education

  • Evolving Roles and Third-Space Practices for Authentic Engagement

 

We are accepting submissions for the following session formats:

  • Presentations of Practice: 10 mins presentation with clear introduction of practice, implementation strategy and impact. PowerPoint presentation may be included. 

  • Campfire Conversations (in person only): 15 mins conversation with 2 mins of research project summary followed by questions from the audience. No PowerPoints involved. 

  • Storytelling: 15 mins storytelling using an image-only presentation to narrate the project. No Q&A involved. 

  • Posters: A2 posters specifying project introduction, project delivery and impact.

  • Interactive Workshop (in-person only): This is a 45 minute session that is a chance for delegates to get hands on with your project/research/approaches to student engagement.

  • Podcast: A chance to sit down and discuss your work for a conference podcast. These can be recorded either in-person during the conference or online, ahead of or following the conference, depending on availability. Please note the final, edited podcast will be shared up to 2 weeks post-conference.
